A Tribute:  Milton Harris Legrand

 

The following information is taken from the "Find A Grave" web site, and was compiled and added to the site by Tom Reese, who has collected information on those individuals from North Carolina who died in Vietnam.

SP4 Milton Harris Legrand

Birth:     Feb. 13, 1945, Badin, Stanly County, North Carolina, USA

Death:   Nov. 20, 1966, Vietnam


Sp4 Milton Harris Legrand, Vietnam Veteran, Native of Badin, North Carolina.

Sp4 Milton Harris Legrand was a member of the Army Selective Service and a Draftee.  SP4 Legrand served our country until November 20th, 1966 in South Vietnam.  He was 21 years old and was not married.  It was reported that Milton died from wounds suffered in an ambush, as he was walking Point on a Company sized sweep.  Three others were wounded in this skirmish.  His body was recovered.  Milton was born on February 13th, 1945 in Badin, North Carolina.  SP4 Legrand is on panel 12E, line 096 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C.  He served our country for one year.

He served with Bravo Company, 2nd Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment, "Golden Dragons", 25th Infantry Division, "Tropic Lightning", USARV.

He was awarded the Bronze Star with "V" device for valor.  The Purple Heart for his combat related wounds. The Combat Infantryman's Badge, The National Defense Service Medal, The Vietnam Service Medal with 1 star, The Vietnamese Cross Of Gallantry with Palm and the Vietnam Campaign Medal with Ribbon.
