Killed In Action:  Additional Information

 

Sergeant Henry John Caballero, July 3, 1969

18 year old from New York, N.Y, his tour of duty began on Mar 19, 1969, casualty was on Jul 03, 1969 in Hua Nghia, South Vietnam, non-hostile, ground casualty, other accident.

From the Daily Staff Journals of the 1st Battalion (Mechanized), 5th Infantry:

    
On July 03, 1969, the Recon Platoon swept and opened Highway 1 and 7A. At 0932 hours, Company B departed FSB Patton with a Rome Plow for cutting operations.   That morning at 0930 hours, some men from Company B, 2/14th infantry fired a LAW (Light Antitank Weapon) into a hedgerow.  When it did not detonate, 4 men went to check it out.  It exploded while they were examining it, killing one and injuring 3.
