Two 2nd Brigade Combat Team Soldiers killed in Baghdad by March 31 IED attack

FORT DRUM – Two Commando Brigade Soldiers were killed in Baghdad when their vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device March 31.
 
Staff Sgt. Jason R. Arnette and Spc. Wilfred Flores Jr., were assigned to Company C, 2nd Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment.
 
Flores was killed March 31 and Arnette died of wounds April 1.
 
Both Soldiers deployed to Iraq with their unit to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in August 2006.
 
Spc. Wilfred Flores Jr., 20, served as an infantryman after completing basic and advanced individual training at Fort Benning.
 
Originally from Lawton, Okla., Flores joined the Army in June 2004.  After initial training, he was assigned to 2nd BCT in November 2004.
 
His awards and decorations include the Purple Heart, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon and the Combat Infantryman Badge.
